In my book, “Killer Instinct” by Jennifer Lynn Barnes the characters have developed from chapter one to chapters two through four faintly. In chapter 2, the character’s celebrate their success by having drinks and listening to music. It unravels here that Dean is like an overprotective brother to Lia when she dances with him spontaneously and Cassie used to be torn between Dean and Micheal, but has chosen to chose neither because of her not wanting to mess up things with her new friends. It is also apparent that Sloane is a happy camper caffeine addict who enjoys the flow of things and restricts her intake of caffeine with the help of Micheal. In chapter three, the four play a thrilling card game that puts all of their abilities to the test and in the end is interrupted of the joyous end by the supervisor who wants to shut down the naturals program. In chapter four, it is learned here that the supervisor, Agent Sterling is hyper-controlled and professional and Cassie quickly identifies her as a “profiler” for her crime-solving ability.
In addition, the complex characters that develop over the course of the text are Lia and Cassie. They both develop throughout the text by changing things up a little for Cassie and showing more of one’s true malevolent yet snarky self. In the book, “Killer Instinct’, It states “I hadn’t pegged you for the type to play strip poker”. In this statement agent Sterling was talking to Cassie which tells me that Cassie has really gotten out of her comfort zone and did something out of the usual. In the text it also states “Trust Lia to cut through the nice ties”. This tell me that Lia is the fearful and bold one of the group and from prior information about her she has always been that way, but deeper into the text it has been more daring.
